*Chairman Xi Jinping met with former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on the afternoon of July 17th.

 

Industrial Economy

*Recently, AR Technology Company “A tribute to the unknown” announced the completion of angel round financing from BABA-SW lead Investment, Loach Capital, Taiya Investment and many well-known institutions follow the investment. This round of financing costs will mainly be used for AR glasses R&D and company operations. It is reported that at the end of July, new product launch conference will be held, the co will officially launch a consumer-grade AR glasses that can be worn out.

*NDRC and other six departments jointly issued the "Notice on Supplementing the Shortages of Public Health and Environmental Facility and Carry out Urban-Rural Environmental Cleaning and Remediation", which pointed out to deeply promote the improvement of rural living environment and build livable, business-friendly and beautiful countryside. Actively promote the construction of public infrastructure in mega-cities that are both urgent and efficient, and create a clean and comfortable living environment for tourism.

*SASAC held an expanded meeting to seriously convey and study the spirit of Xi Jinping's important speech which pointed out to take high-quality participation in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" as the starting point, focus on strategic resources, strategic emerging industries, key core technologies, key infrastructure and other fields, fully leverage the support and driving role of state-owned leading enterprises to promote the digital, intelligent and green transformation of traditional industries.

*NDRC fully leverage the overall coordination role, grasp the design of the top-level system at the same time, and accelerate the introduction of the "Ecological Protection Compensation Regulations". Actively promote the comprehensive ecological compensation work, and make efforts to promote the improvement of the ecological protection compensation system.

*Zheng Zhajie, head of the NDRC, held a symposium to listen to the opinions of private enterprises on July 17th, whom pointed out to accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system with advanced manufacturing as the backbone, and promote deep integration between modern service industry and advanced manufacturing industry, continue to improve the communication and exchange mechanism with private enterprises, adhere to the normalization of holding symposiums for private entrepreneurs, carefully listen to the real voice of private enterprises, focus on optimizing the development environment of private economy, and form a joint force to promote the development and growth of private economy.

*CPPCC held a symposium on analyzing the macroeconomic situation in the first half of 2023, which pointed out to unify thoughts and actions towards Central Committee's analysis and judgment on economic situation and decision-making deployment for economic work.

* Commodities (night session):

* Global crude oil price closed down collectively. August NYMEX crude oil contract down 1.72% to closed at $74.12/b, September Brent contract down 1.69% to closed at $78.52/b. INE crude oil active contract down 0.83% to 573.1 yuan/b.

* Precious metals saw mixed performance. COMEX gold contract down 0.27% to closed at $1959/oz. SHFE gold active contract up 0.22% and closed at 455.70 yuan/gram.

* Metals closed down collectively, LME nickel down 3.47%, LME copper down 2.03%, LME lead down 1.34%. SHFE nickel down 2.70%, SHFE tin down 1.15%, bonded copper down 1.11%.

* Commodity futures closed mixed. Chemistry and energy products saw weak performance, natural rubber down 1.26%, PVC down 1.14%, soda ash down nearly 1%. Black series closed mixed, coking coal down 2.56%, coke up 1.14%. Agricultural products closed mixed, cotton up 1.09%, RBD palm olein up nearly 1%, corn down 1.31%.
